Today, we're looking at the best way to see Egypt and its wealth of history by booking a Nile Cruise and stay.
This is a wonderful way to combine a Beach holiday on the Red Sea, and a fantastic once in a lifetime cruise down the Nile. One can choose to go to Sharm El Sheikh to one of the lovely hotels, or, as in this case a great break on one of the superb sandy beaches of Hurghada.
Our best selling cruuise is the Etoile Du Nil, (which means "star of the Nile" and you'll see why!) and passengers stay in one of two identical boats...they are identically brilliant! The boats are 5* Full Board, and one can choose to take an upper cabin with Nile views (highly recommended!) The boats are modern and have the latest safety technology. The service is great on board, and one can opt to take a light excursions package, or go the whole hog and see absolutely everything, including the Abu Simbl Temple and Temple of Haksheput.
Many clients report that this trully is an amazing experience. However, after a week of trapsing about in the heat, a lovely relaxing beach break for seven nights is most welcome!
Chose from an array of fantastic hotels- we'd recommend El Gouna which is an idyllic lagoon style resort just outside Hurghada. We're off to Sharm el Sheikh on this cold cloudy Thursday and I'm sure there will be a real contrast in the weather on arrival.

As I have probably mentioned before, I have vistited Sharm on an educational last year.

The punishing schedule included (apart from free drinks!) an endless number of hotels over the week, and eventually they all seemed to blend into one.

Out of all the hotels though there was one that stood out from the crowd- The Savoy 5* in Sharm. Not to say that the other hotels were not exceptional, its just that this hotel had everything- it was not too big, not too small.

Some hotels had a bus service to take you around because there were literally thousands of rooms. On walking through reception there is a breath-taking vantage point overlooking the hotel's incredible swimming pool which is of the largest in Sharm. It actually has 5 swimming pools in total. The Savoy is spread out on 300 metres of The White Knight's secluded beachfront which is well-renowned; it is part of the Ras Mohamed National Park and the sand looks like hour glass sand.

There is an outside grill restaurant where you can choose fresh fish or chicken and have it cooked before you on outside barbecues by the friendly staff.

There is a wide choice of restaurants, Italian, seafood, late dinner Gazebo restaurant and the seafood grill on the beach I have mentioned to name a few.

Also, there are a number of bars, Lobby Terrace bar, Rocky Pool Bar, and a beach bar on White Knight Beach.

Today we're in Hurghada to visit the superb 5* All inclusive Le Meridien Makadi Bay. The Hotel is located in Makadi bay which is a lovely resort outside the main town of Hurghada. I have had the pleasure of visiting this hotel as part of an educational visit in Hurghada.

On arrival at Makadi bay, the sand looks like hour glass sand- to your right are the Sinai mountains looking majestic in the distance, and the Le Meridien sits by the beach and the refreshing shores of the Red Sea with its beatiful lagoons.

Having seen the hotel, I' d recommend a lagoon view room, although one wouldn't be disappointed no matter where the room is! On entering the reception area, the Hotel has a luxurious ambience, with its elegant sweeping marble staircase in the centre of the large space.

The Le Meridien Hotel is a must if you want a nice relaxing holiday, be it with your partner or family. There are both indoor and out door swimming pools, tennis courts and a health club with sauna and steam rooms.

If you are travelling with a family, youngsters are catered for by the 'Penguin' children's club. There is a private natural beach, and if you fancy doing something special, try the horseback riding on the beach!

It's worth doing this as there really is SO much to see in Kos.

One can also visit Turkey, just a short boat ride away. Our next contender is the slightly pricier but you'll know why when you get there!! The fantastic 5*AI Norida Beach Hotel on the wonderful island of Kos. The hotel is part of the renowned Mitsis Hotels group which has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, offering a great level of service and some lovely hotels in some great locations you'll want to visit again and again.As a travel agent I'm often asked to recommend a hotel to a colleague or friend and when it matters most I always recommended the Norida Beach.

The Hotel is now a 5* Ultra All inclusive with excellent facilities which will exceed the needs of the most demanding traveller.The hotel is out of the busy centre of Kardamena, in a picturesque quiet setting. There is a courtesy bus that runs from the hotel into the centre of Kardamena, if you fancy an up-tempo night out.

Kos Town is also a must, with the harbour and the numerous cafés and clubs. When I visited last year we had a memorable night out in Kos town, there are nice cobbled streets with some lovely clubs tucked away- it took me some persuading to go out as I'm more of a restaurant/café sort of person, but the atmosphere was so friendly, after a few Tequila shots the night just flew by!

There are bungalow style rooms some of which can accommodate those of us with three children comfortably, and there are also twin rooms in the main hotel. The rooms have air conditioning, and some have sea-views which can be requested.The thing that impressed me the most was the choice in dining- that's what you need when staying at an all-inclusive for a week or two, there is a Chinese restaurant by the beach, as well as the Taverna and a wood burning pizza oven- this was the best pizza I've ever had!!

There is also a children's restaurant called 'Les Smurfs', and a children's disco. Also, if like us you want to have a day out, the hotel will arrange a picnic basket for you instead of lunch. It's worth doing this as there really is SO much to see in Kos- I apologise for 'going off on one' when I'm talking about Greece but it really is superb, The Castle of the Knights of Saint John is a must-see, and also the Asklepieion which is an achaelogical site, the largest in Kos; these fascinating sites are great to visit but a real cause of discontent for the kids who'd rather spend all day on the water slide at the Norida.

(If I'm honest part of me would also rather do this!). One can also visit Turkey, just a short boat ride away. The Norida has a number of bars, including 2 adults-only bars, an internet café, banana boats-one of my friends that went as a couple tried diving, I didn't try that, I choose life instead; but she said it was spectacular and well worth doing under the watchful eye of the very experienced diving tutors. The Midweek hotel offer is the Le Meridien Makadi Bay 5* all inclusive. I have had the pleasure of visiting this hotel as part of an educational visit in Hurghada. It was nice to get out of the busy centre of Hurghada and head toward the Sinai mountains.

If you work up an appetite no problem as there are numerous dining opportunities at the hotel. There is a Chinese a la carte restaurant, and three speciality restaurants which offer Far eastern, Mexican and Italian cuisine. Also, there is a seafood restaurant on the seafront which we visited, and La Trattoria which does pizzas and salads. Its nice and relaxing to make ones way through the hotel grounds amonst the swimming pools, shady areas, with the sound of flowing water and finally onto the lovely Makadi beach!

Having experienced the service of this hotel first hand I can say that this is extraordinary- this is what makes or breaks a hotel- the service. On arrival you'll find the reception staff very friendly despite seeming intimidatingly over-groomed! Once in your room you'll find a complimentary bottle of Champers, the bed invitingly turned over, and if you go for a sea-view the lights of Positano start twinkling as dusk turns to night. You really feel pampered here as the chambermaids tidy up clothes, put towels away or replace them twice a day, the bed is also turned over twice a day, while you relax on the rooftop pool with its snack bar overlooking the whole of Positano and the Med!

In the basement there is a complimentary gym, fully equipped including running machine, and lovely Turkish baths. There is also a very competent masseuse offering a wide variety of treatments.There is also a wonderful public lounge area, an internet cafe, and the restaurant where breakfast and evening meals are served overlook Positano & the coastline- there's nothing like it, breakfast took twice as long we tried to take in the sights! Our second beach destination of Sharm El Sheikh has been a top favourite for weeks on end as the weather is amazing, and the service second to none. Here, one can get a superb value deal, be it all inclusive or B&B at one of the superb high quality hotels. We're looking at the Creative Mexicana 4* AI today, as it is such a lovely property, at fantastic prices.

The rooms are very well appointed, with a high quality feel reminiscent of the highly branded hotels. There are huge verandas, and two swimming pools; a heated free form pool, and another very large pool with swim-up bar. There is an area where one can order barbecued food by the pool, and a fantastic all-inclusive resaurant with terrace. There is also an extremely good Egyptian restaurant which is superb, one pays a small local supplement to use these ither restaurants, but this is well worth it! You'll also find an Italian and steak-house restaurant in addition. So the choice is brilliant.

During our stay at this hotel, we used the complimentary shuttle bus to Naama Bay, and the on returning to the Hotel, if we were not sozzled enough, we'd sit at the lovely British style pub in front of the hotel, which had a superb terrace, and was part of the all-inclusive!

As the name suggests, the hotel is Mexican themed, but in no way is it tacky or distasteful. The decor is lovely, and the way the hotel is set out makes ones stay very pleasureable.

We're off to Sharm el Sheikh on this Friday afternoon to discover a firm favourite in Sharm-El-Sheikh. Out of all the hotels though there are in Sharm one that stands out is The Savoy 5* in Sharm.Not to say that the other hotels are not exceptional, its just that this hotel had everything- it was not too big, not too small. Some hotels have a bus service to take you around because there are literally thousands of rooms. On walking through reception there is a breath-taking vantage point overlooking the hotel's incredible swimming pool which is of the largest in Sharm. It actually has 5 swimming pools in total.The Savoy is spread out on 300 metres of The White Knight's secluded beachfront which is well-renowned; it is part of the Ras Mohamed National Park and the sand looks like hour glass sand. There are 446 rooms in total nicely spread out amongst pools, and the rocky cave bar. It really is a pleasure to walk around the grounds of the hotel, there is a lovely feeling- a "this is it" feeling.There is an outside grill restaurant where you can choose fresh fish or chicken and have it cooked before you on outside barbecues by the friendly staff. There is a wide choice of restaurants, Italian, seafood, late dinner Gazebo restaurant and the seafood grill on the beach I have mentioned to name a few. Also, there are a number of bars, Lobby Terrace bar, Rocky Pool Bar, and a beach bar on White Knight Beach.The rooms themselves are lovely, elegantly furnished, and exceed expectation. All are air conditioned of course, there is a private terrace or balcony, satellite tv, mini-bar, wireless internet connection. There is a free Health club with sauna, jacuzzi steam bath & a gym. The nice thing is that it is also nearer to Hurghada itself, if one wishes to venture in and take in the local atmosphere and shopping opportunities. I'd highly recommend this having done it myself. There are loads of perfumeries, clothes shops at a fraction of the cost one would find back home. There are loads of eating opprtunities too, from fast food restaurants if one misses home too much, to Greek restaurants if one misses one's previous holiday destination! Point is there is a wide variety, and it is nice to see the locals go about their business in the town, shopping or meeting in the local shops.

The rooms are large in this modern white resort set amidst pine trees in its own private sandy cove, which boasts a jetty and it's own natural cave. It is located just 800 metres from the village of Turunc, and 20 kilometres south of Marmaris, this four floor hotel features air-conditioned guestrooms, all with balconies or terrace and simple light decor with white walls, white linens and modern wooden furnishings.
The rooms also have satellite TV, air-conditioning, direct-dial phones,mini fridge and bathrooms with bath/shower over and hair dryer. We're looking at the fantastic Barcelo group of hotels, and the lovely Barcelo Royal Beach Hotel in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria.

The hotel was built in 2007, and has some unrepeatable offers in order to drum up clientele. The Hotel is located in the centre of Sunny Beach on a commercial street of Sunny Beach, close to a shopping mall, housing over 70 shops.

Clients who have been this year have said that there is also a very good entertainment programme for the family, and many have enquired for later in the year , and for 2009.

The first hotel we're looking at is the Turunc Hotel 5* All Inclusive. Turunc bay is marvellous (pictured above) and this hotel is causing a real stir. We've sold most of our allocation but there are still some inflation-busting offers available. The location is fantastic and has been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness.

This is a great choice for couples and families. The hotel has a renovated restaurant and the beach area too. Most rooms and ensuite bathrooms have been updated too. The hotel is set amongst pine trees, and has its own private sandy beach.

To end this busy week, we're off to another favourite on the wonderful Greek island of Kos. There's nothing better than a Greek island in Summer. There's always a lovely cooling breeze which you get on the islands, and Kos is a lovely example. It really takes the edge off the Summer heat. Got a family? Lots of hungry mouths to feed on holiday! You'll no doubt hear "daddy, can I have money for ice-cream?" or "daddy can I have a drink?" Pictured above (left) is the new town of Rhodes, and it is precisely on this stretch that you'll find the Mitsis Grand Hotel 5*HB. As the name suggests it is part of the renowned Mitsis group of hotels, and it is one of my favourites which I have stayed in on many occasions. Many people opt for the all inclusives which is fine, but one finds these hotels tend to be a little secluded, and you are then more reliant on the hotel, where as I like to get out there in the hustle and bustle.

Greece is not too expensive, and being half board at the Grand is plenty, allowing you to sample the multitude of local tavernas, offering delicacies like octopuss on charcoal, fried calamari (squid), and anything and everything that the sea has to offer!

The location of the Grand is such, that it is a short pleasant stroll to everywhere, the sea is just across the road, and if you fancy a drink, you can't help but bump into a cafeteria, or sports bar on every turn!

Rhodes is also steeped in history, and has the fantastic walled old city with the ancient Christian churches, ancient mosque, synagogue and so on, not to be missed. There are also nature reserves such as the renowned valley of the butterflies, again, not to be missed.

The Grand offers a certain ambience you do not get in the other Mitsis hotels, it has an air of extravagance about it with the marble reception, with its pillars, the piano bar, endless facilities, a superb swimming pool with marble pillars, excellent service, and very quaint rooms, classically furnished, and most with pool and sea views. I'd book this hotel immediately given half the chance, the hotel ticks all the boxes, and with Summer offers starting at just £349 per person for a week from Gatwick, do not miss out, this offer will not surface again until November!!

Our second top selling beach destination is Hurghada. We're looking at the Hilton Hurghada Plaza, and having stayed at this hotel on a recent fact-finding trip to Hurghada, I'd highly recommend it. Having visited many of the all-inclusive hotels, I found myself weighing up all the pros and cons of the hotels we had seen, and the conclusion many of us reached was that on holiday, one wants to enjoy the location of the hotel. The hotel also has to have a nice atmosphere, and good service. And this is exactly what you'll get at this particular Hilton. Personally, I'd stay Bed and breakfast at thi hotel, as it is so cheap to eat out, and the variety is never ending!

You get a feeling that you've joined the jetset too as there is a marina by the hotel, with some very impressive yachts (see photo above, right). You'll also find that the hotel has a lovely lagoon style bay which is its own private secluded beach. There is a nice swimming pool too, and a comfotable public lounge. You don't need taxis here, just throw on some flip-flops and you're in downtown Hurghada, with its markets, cafes, restaurants...what a super location!

Our next contender is the slightly pricier but you'll know why when you get there!! The fantastic 5*AI Norida Beach Hotel on the wonderful island of Kos. The hotel is part of the renowned Mitsis Hotels group which has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, offering a great level of service and some lovely hotels in some great locations you'll want to visit again and again.
As a travel agent I'm often asked to recommend a hotel to a colleague or friend and when it matters most I always recommended the Norida Beach. The Hotel is now a Inclus5* Ultra All inclusive with excellent facilities which will exceed the needs of the most demanding traveller.
The hotel is out of the busy centre of Kardamena, in a picturesque quiet setting. There is a courtesy bus that runs from the hotel into the centre of Kardamena, if you fancy an up-tempo night out. Kos Town is also a must, with the harbour and the numerous cafés and clubs. When I visited last year we had a memorable night out in Kos town, there are nice cobbled streets with some lovely clubs tucked away- it took me some persuading to go out as I'm more of a restaurant/café sort of person, but the atmosphere was so friendly, after a few Tequila shots the night just flew by!
There are bungalow style rooms some of which can accommodate those of us with three children comfortably, and there are also twin rooms in the main hotel. The rooms have air conditioning, and some have sea-views which can be requested.
The thing that impressed me the most was the choice in dining- that's what you need when staying at an all-inclusive for a week or two, there is a Chinese restaurant by the beach, as well as the Taverna and a wood burning pizza oven- this was the best pizza I've ever had!! There is also a children's restaurant called 'Les Smurfs', and a children's disco. Also, if like us you want to have a day out, the hotel will arrange a picnic basket for you instead of lunch. It's worth doing this as there really is SO much to see in Kos- I apologise for 'going off on one' when I'm talking about Greece but it really is superb, The Castle of the Knights of Saint John is a must-see, and also the Asklepieion which is an achaelogical site, the largest in Kos; these fascinating sites are great to visit but a real cause of discontent for the kids who'd rather spend all day on the water slide at the Norida.(If I'm honest part of me would also rather do this!). One can also visit Turkey, just a short boat ride away.
The Norida has a number of bars, including 2 adults-only bars, an internet café, banana boats-one of my friends that went as a couple tried diving, I didn't try that, I choose life instead; but she said it was spectacular and well worth doing under the watchful eye of the very experienced diving tutors.

Onto our Citybreaks and we're off to Venice, and the 4* Amadeus Hotel. We do book couples mostly here as Venice does tend to offer romantic surroundings.
The Amadeus is in the heart of the Cannaregio neighbourhood and is only a few steps away from authentic gems of Venetian art and history, starting from Palazzo Labia, and the RAI building that houses a splendid cycle of frescoes by Tiepolo, one of the greatest Italian painters of the 18th century.
Five minutes on foot from the Hotel Amadeus will also bring you to the Jewish Ghetto of Venice. Established in 1516, the ghetto is fascinating and evocative to this day. Indeed, there are sights not to be missed in Venice, it really is a classic Citybreak, a lot of the busy traffic is on the infamous waterways. This Hotel will definitely complement your stay. It is a lovely 4 star, with 63 comfortable rooms. There is a fantastic Japanese suishi restaurant, a bar, and the rooms have air conditioning and satellite or cable tv.

Its the end of another busy week- we're closing with a very nice hotel in Turkey called the 5* AI Garden of Sun in the well known area of Didim or Altinkum. I've been selling this resort for many years and this Hotel has already got a good rapport of repeat clients even though it is quite new in the area. Altinkum/Didim is famed for its long stretch of lovely sandy beach (see photo above) .

At the hotel you'll find many faccilities for the whole family such as Turkish baths, sauna, swimming pool with water slides and various restaurants. The hotel has a super location just 250 m from the beach, and also just 1 km from the center of Altinkum.

There is a nice á la Carte Restaurant as well as the buffet restaurant and a number of bars. For entertainment there is an animation programme, basketball a beauty salon a choice of cafes. To keep the little ones busy there is a children's club and a children's playground.

For evening entertainment there is a disco as well a local culture night. For fitness fanatics there is a gym, and for relaxation there is a thalassotherapy centre with Turkish baths including sauna and jacuzzi with massage option available.

The Hotel has many sports facilities available too, and you'll also find that there is a lovely outdoor swimming pool as well as an indoor swimming pool. With the all-inclusive offer we've found that clients are very satisfied with the value for money this hotel offers, and is a property which is highly recommended.
