  Today, we're looking at the best way to see Egypt and its wealth of history by booking a Nile Cruise and stay. This is a wonderful way to combine a Beach holiday on the Red Sea, and a fantastic once in a lifetime cruise down the Nile. One can choose to go to Sharm El Sheikh to one of the lovely hotels, or, as in this case a great break on one of the superb sandy beaches of Hurghada. Our best selling cruuise is the Etoile Du Nil, (which means "star of the Nile" and you'll see why!) and passengers stay in one of two identical boats...they are identically brilliant! The boats are 5* Full Board, and one can choose to take an upper cabin with Nile views (highly recommended!) The boats are modern and have the latest safety technology. The service is great on board, and one can opt to take a light excursions package, or go the whole hog and see absolutely everything, including the Abu Simbl Temple and Temple of Haksheput. Many clients report that this trully is an amazing experience. However, after a week of trapsing about in the heat, a lovely relaxing beach break for seven nights is most welcome! Chose from an array of fantastic hotels- we'd recommend El Gouna which is an idyllic lagoon style resort just outside Hurghada. Here, one doesn't need to worry about spending on drinks or snacks as everything is included. The pools are lovely, the staff accommodating, adn the hotel lives up well to its Hilton namesake. The nice thing is that it is also nearer to Hurghada itself, if one wishes to venture in and take in the local atmosphere and shopping opportunities. I'd highly recommend this having done it myself. There are loads of perfumeries, clothes shops at a fraction of the cost one would find back home. There are loads of eating opprtunities too, from fast food restaurants if one misses home too much, to Greek restaurants if one misses one's previous holiday destination! Point is there is a wide variety, and it is nice to see the locals go about their business in the town, shopping or meeting in the local shops.  We're off to Sharm el Sheikh on this cold cloudy Thursday and I'm sure there will be a real contrast in the weather on arrival. As I have probably mentioned before, I have vistited Sharm on an educational last year. The punishing schedule included (apart from free drinks!) an endless number of hotels over the week, and eventually they all seemed to blend into one. Out of all the hotels though there was one that stood out from the crowd- The Savoy 5* in Sharm. Not to say that the other hotels were not exceptional, its just that this hotel had everything- it was not too big, not too small. Some hotels had a bus service to take you around because there were literally thousands of rooms. On walking through reception there is a breath-taking vantage point overlooking the hotel's incredible swimming pool which is of the largest in Sharm. It actually has 5 swimming pools in total. The Savoy is spread out on 300 metres of The White Knight's secluded beachfront which is well-renowned; it is part of the Ras Mohamed National Park and the sand looks like hour glass sand. There is an outside grill restaurant where you can choose fresh fish or chicken and have it cooked before you on outside barbecues by the friendly staff. There is a wide choice of restaurants, Italian, seafood, late dinner Gazebo restaurant and the seafood grill on the beach I have mentioned to name a few. Also, there are a number of bars, Lobby Terrace bar, Rocky Pool Bar, and a beach bar on White Knight Beach. The rooms themselves are lovely, elegantly furnished, and exceed expectation. All are air conditioned of course, there is a private terrace or balcony, satellite tv, mini-bar, wireless internet connection. There is a free Health club with sauna, jacuzzi steam bath & a gym. The facilities are endless- I am trying to skim over the hotel's attributes but it is difficult, I couldn't find anything negative about The Savoy; it is beautifully landscaped, there is Tropical scenery with cascading water features, heated pools, private beachfront sun terrace area...I suppose the only negative thing I could say is that I'm not there!   Today we're in Hurghada to visit the superb 5* All inclusive Le Meridien Makadi Bay. The Hotel is located in Makadi bay which is a lovely resort outside the main town of Hurghada. I have had the pleasure of visiting this hotel as part of an educational visit in Hurghada.
On arrival at Makadi bay, the sand looks like hour glass sand- to your right are the Sinai mountains looking majestic in the distance, and the Le Meridien sits by the beach and the refreshing shores of the Red Sea with its beatiful lagoons.
Having seen the hotel, I' d recommend a lagoon view room, although one wouldn't be disappointed no matter where the room is! On entering the reception area, the Hotel has a luxurious ambience, with its elegant sweeping marble staircase in the centre of the large space.
The Le Meridien Hotel is a must if you want a nice relaxing holiday, be it with your partner or family. There are both indoor and out door swimming pools, tennis courts and a health club with sauna and steam rooms.
If you are travelling with a family, youngsters are catered for by the 'Penguin' children's club. There is a private natural beach, and if you fancy doing something special, try the horseback riding on the beach!
If you work up an appetite no problem as there are numerous dining opportunities at the hotel. There is a Chinese a la carte restaurant, and three speciality restaurants which offer Far eastern, Mexican and Italian cuisine.
Also, there is a seafood restaurant on the seafront which we visited, and La Trattoria which does pizzas and salads. Its nice and relaxing to make ones way through the hotel grounds amonst the swimming pools, shady areas, with the sound of flowing water and finally onto the lovely Makadi beach!
If you fancy a night out, or perhaps some shopping time, its easy to get into Hurghada too, with loads of shops which are very competitively priced.
